Suggestions by expert Trek-Leaders
As a leading Trek-Group of Maharashtra, Team "Mischief Treks" would like to share few important points to ensure your Jungle-Trek is a safe, memorable adventure. As your safety is our top priority, we want you to keep the following things in mind while opting for a trek.
Gear up properly
♦ Footwear: You should wear shoes with good grip. Strictly avoid sandals or floaters.
♦ Clothing: Wear quick-dry clothes made of synthetic materials (polyester, nylon). Avoid jeans or similar material that gets uncomfortable when its wet.
♦ Rain Protection: A poncho is better than a raincoat as it covers you as well as your backpack. Pack your belongings in plastic before putting it in your backpack. Strictly avoid umbrellas, Your hands need to be free while trekking.
♦ Energy: Carry snacks to munch on, during the trek you may feel hungry.
♦ Hydration: Carry at least 2 Ltr. of water to keep you hydrated. Sip water at frequent intervals and consider adding an electrolyte powder to prevent cramps.
♦ Be Aware: Follow safety instructions mentioned on trek details page and do not skip reading the "important notes" mentioned on it.
♦ Things to carry: Each trek-details page of Mischief Treks website contains a "Thing to carry" section which needs to be considered for planning the said trek.
Fitness Required for Treks
Treks aren’t just nature walks. Even if the trail looks flat, the uneven terrain, slippery rocks, and humid air make it tiring.
Benchmark: You should be able to comfortably walk for a few hours and climb 5-6 flights of stairs without becoming breathless.
Focus on: Stamina and stability are more important than brute strength. A basic level of fitness is sufficient for most of our jungle treks.
You should be able to:
♦ Walk for 3 to 6 hours continuously on an incline terrain with a small backpack
♦ Manage your speed with the speed of the group.
♦ If you’re very new to trekking, start with easier trails before trying tougher ones.
Safety Protocols Followed by Mischief Treks
♦ We don’t compromise on safety, even if that means cancelling an event due to bad weather conditions.
♦ Our leaders carry first-aid kits, torches, and are well versed with rescue protocols.
♦ We do a trail reccé before publishing any trek on our website. This ensures the team has all latest updates about the terrain.
♦ Headcount is taken before starting, and again at mid-point and end to ensure no one misses out.
♦ Before starting the trek, we conduct a safety-instruction session to educate all participants about the trek.
♦ We follow a strict protocol to reject applicants during enquiry phase if we notice behavioural red flags, carelessness, or ignorance.
♦ The leaders of Mischief Treks are trained in first-aid and navigating in most challenging terrains
♦ Mischief Treks is known for keeping the group size small during treks, only 25-30 participants per batch. This helps everyone enjoy nature in a safe and peaceful way.

Local Jeep + Train Combo: We also have cost effective travel option of travelling to nearest railway station by train and then a jointly hired local Jeep to reach the base village
Own Vehicle: You can reach the base village by your own vehicle. Beware, the roads leading to base villages can be in poor condition, with potholes deep enough to cause accidents.
Caution: Trek locations are not Tourist Spots
Going for a trek alone or only with your group of friends is not a good idea. Trekking locations are not like tourist spots, the chances of getting injured or lost are much higher and hence you need to be accompanied by an expert trek-leader. Guides are suitable only for tourist locations. In the last 3 years, more than 200 individuals have got badly hurt and some have even lost their lives because of small mistakes during treks. These mistakes could have been avoided if they were under supervision of a trek-leader. If something goes wrong, you will need quick medical help, every minute matters, and your friends may know the route but they are not trained for rescue. That’s why it’s always better to trek with a trusted and experienced trek organiser. Always choose your trek organiser wisely.
Choose Trek Organiser Wisely
Your Safety Comes First
Always prefer Trek-Organisers with limited batch size to avoid getting trapped in a Over-Crowded batch where your entire experience is ruined.
♦ Check if the organiser provides email confirmations, documented evidence of booking via legitimate official website.
♦ Check if the payment is being made to the organisation or some individual personal account which can be a huge red flag.
♦ Check if organiser is famous for "Reels" or for "Reliability". Be Wise !
♦ Check the historic track record and reputation in terms of safe and secured trek operations.
♦ Check how many years of actual trek-handling experience the organisation has.
♦ Last but most important, Look at the kind of crowd that usually joins treks with that organiser.
Beware of: Social Media based trek organisers. In recent years, we have noticed a dangerous trend. Inexperienced individuals, mostly school or college students, offering trekking events on Instagram and other social media apps. Many of them have no actual trekking knowledge, no organisational training, and often can’t manage their own safety. Remember, your life is more valuable than a Discount offer. They take payments to personal UPI numbers. No confirmation. No refund. No responsibility.
