Simply put, the trains to Bhuj get completely sold out months in advance, especially during the festival season. At the fairground near the White Rann, you'll find handicraft stalls, food vendors, and a stage for folk music and dance performances. Our tour ensures you get to spend an evening here to soak in the atmosphere. Mischief Treks plays vital role of ensuring proper coordination and arrangements for its participants.

What is the best time to visit the Rann of Kutch?

The festival runs from October to March, but we recommend visiting between November and February. The weather is the most pleasant during these months—the daytime is sunny and comfortable for sightseeing, and the nights are cool and crisp. December and January are peak season, with the most activity.

I’ve heard about the full moon being special at the White Rann. Should I plan my trip around it?

This is a very common question. In the past, before the area became a major tourist destination, the full moon was the only source of light, and it made the salt desert glow. It was a magical sight. However, since 2017, the main festival area has been fitted with large floodlights. These lights are very bright, similar to what you'd see in a stadium, and they overpower the moonlight. Our honest advice: Don't stress about planning your trip around the full moon. The view is spectacular on any clear night now, thanks to the lights.

Can tourists visit the White Rann even if they are not attending the Rann Utsav festival?

Yes. You can visit the Rann any time in season. The festival adds cultural events, but the salt desert itself is always the main attraction.

How many days are enough for a proper Rann of Kutch trip?

From Bhuj-to-Bhuj a plan for one-night and two days is good to experience Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch. A two night and three days plan works well if you wish to cover Bhuj, Dholavira and Rann of Kutch.

What are the festival dates for Rann Utsav every year?

The festival usually runs from late October to early March. The exact dates change every year. For 2025-2026 the festival dates are from October 23, 2025, to March 04, 2026

Will I get enough time to explore the Rann of Kutch at a slow and comfortable pace?

Yes. Our well planned itineraries give enough time at each spot without rushing. Mischief Treks designs the schedule to avoid unnecessary waiting or long idle hours.

Can I suggest changes to the itinerary if I join a group tour?

You can share your ideas. The team will review the suggestion and check if it works for the group. If it fits the plan, and everyone is okay with it , we are flexible enough to accommodate the changes.

Is the White Rann open 24 hours or only during specific timings?

The White Rann is open from morning to late evening, but entry at night usually requires permits. Full moon nights are the most popular.

Which mobile networks work best in Dhordo?

Jio and BSNL work better compared to others. Network drops as you move deeper into the desert.

Is cash needed at Rann Utsav or are digital payments enough?

UPI works at most places, but small vendors prefer cash. Carry both.

Rann of Kutch Update as on November 14, 2025

Mischief Treks has successfully completed the October and November 2025 group tours for the Rann of Kutch and Dholavira Tour. The participants had amazing experience in each of the batch. The next tour dates are planned for December 2025, and for January, February and March 2026. Seats are filling fast, so booking early is recommended. Our journey is designed to be more than just a trip to the Tent City. We believe in crafting an authentic and immersive experience, which is why we are firm advocates of small-group sizes. This allows us to escape the massive crowds, connect more deeply with the local culture, and explore at a comfortable pace. Crucially, our itinerary takes you beyond the mainstream to the incredible Dholavira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient Harappan city offers a profound glimpse into a 5000-year-old civilization, adding a layer of historical discovery that is missing from most standard Rann Utsav packages.

Planning & Booking for Rann Utsav 2025-26:
The Rann Utsav is one of India's most popular festivals, and planning is key.

    • Book Early: Accommodation, especially the traditional Kutchi Bhungas (mud huts), and permits get sold out months in advance, particularly for the full moon dates, which offer the most magical view of the white desert.
    • Official Dates: The Rann Utsav Festival, from 23-Oct-2025 to 04-Mar-2026
    • Dholavira Access: The road connectivity to Dholavira has been significantly improved, making the journey to this ancient archaeological site smoother and more accessible.

Did You Know? The ancient city of Dholavira had one of the most sophisticated water conservation systems of its time in the world. The Harappans who lived here built a series of massive reservoirs, channels, and dams to collect every precious drop of rainwater, allowing their city to thrive in an arid, salt-plain environment nearly 5,000 years ago.

Rann Utsav - Full Moon Dates for 2025-2026 Rann of Kutch

Prior to year 2017, The Full Moon used to be special day to witness Rann Of Kutch because the moonlight falling on white desert would make it look magnificent. But, Since 2017 the place got commercialized and hundreds of huge Flood-lights (Halogen Lights) were installed at Rann of Kutch Desert area. The lights made Moon and Moonlight completely irrelevant. Now you can opt for visiting on any date without considering Full-Moon
