Beware of "Chapri" groups on Instagram, luring people using cheap-tricks like discounts or offers tailored to mislead specific genders. These "Chapri" category people generally use stolen or unauthorised reposted images/videos/text content.

Always research about compatibility and "category" of the trek group you plan to join. After all, you will be spending entire duration of the trek in company of the group you choose.

As per our experience "People often opt for groups that match their mindset -OR- sometimes by mistake get carried away by cheap manipulative marketing."

Best Season to Harihar Fort Trek

The best season to visit Harihar fort trek is during Winters, Harihar fort is located in Nashik. Winter is our favorite time to trek Harihar fort as the weather in Nashik is good during winters, nights are cold and the day temperature also is very comfortable to trek. The Winters are cold here while the summers are hot and humid. There's heavy downpour seen during Monsoons sometimes, We wouldn't recommend to trek Harihar during Monsoon as trekking might get risky due to heavy winds and rains. There is also huge footfall of trekkers seen during weekends in Monsoon making it impossible to even walk at times.

Harihar Fort Trek Experience - What to expect

Harihar fort trek can be done from two villages, one being Nirgudpada and other being Harshewadi. I had started from Nirgudpada, you do have to walk a little more as compared to Harshewadi but the trek is worth. The Adventure starts with you starting your trek through Nirgudpada village. The walk leads you through fields to a patch where the slight incline starts. There's a small patch of forest post which you can get a clear view of the fort if the sky is clear. You can follow the trail to reach a plateau, the trail might be confusing for some, I would recommend going with experienced team of people. Once you have reached the plateau you can clearly see the most exciting part of the trek which is the 80° Steep Steps, as wind blows on your face this view becomes more exciting. I was scared looking at the height of the steps but our trek leader supported me and motivated everyone to walk through fiercely. I could easily pump up some energy and climb the steps, also there are notches carved in that help to keep your fingers while climbing up. Once I reached the last step, I did look behind once which looked scary but at the same time made me feel proud that I had been through one of the most scariest looking steps. Post this you walk through a narrow path carved within a mountain to reach more steps, after climbing these steep rock cut steps you reach the fort. There are multiple statues here including Lord Hanuman, Shiva, and Nandi. There's a Trishul too near the Shivling. There's one pond which has clear and fresh water which is drinkable. There's a room which was earlier used to store food grains at the top, You also can see views of forts like Bhaskargad, Anjaneri fort, Brahmagiri, and Utwad fort when the sky is clear. On the fort there's a highest point which is also known as Balekilla, you need to trek 10-15 mins to reach here, the view from the top is mesmerizing. It is a small plateau and can only accommodate few people. There are lots of flags at the top of this plateau. You can spend good time exploring the fort and the views nearby post which you can start your return journey to the base village via the same route. We had our tummies full with the most delicious food at the base village, rested for a while and started our return journey to Mumbai with loads of Happy memories.

Update as on February 26, 2024:

The weather in the month of March is cold at Harihar Fort, as the nights are expected to be windy Trek leaders of Mischief Treks recommend carrying warm clothes. The visibility is clear and night sky looks splendid. Average temperature for the night is expected to be around 24°C. The Sunrise from peak of the fort looks splendid and during  February to March, you may be fortunate to view Winter-Line at the horizon too.  Also as per reports a very sad news for Harihar fort trekkers: Local administration has decided to put up railing at the famous vertical stairs at Harihar fort. This will destroy entire experience of adventurous climb and make this place more of a tourist location.
