    Note: The Rann Utsav is scheduled from 01-Nov-2023 to 26-Feb-2024. Once upon a time long long ago the light emitted from Moon was the only source of light in this region. Experiencing the white desert at night used to be special. But, currently, there are hundreds of Giant floodlights installed in the entire area which makes the moonlight barely noticeable. These lights are similar to cricket stadium lights during night matches. Now you can plan for any date without worrying about the Moon.

    Day 1-

    • 03:15 PM – Mumbai Participants catch train number 20907 - Sayaji Express to Bhuj and reach Bhuj next day by 6.30 AM

    Day 2-

    • 06:30 AM – Pick up from Bhuj Airport / Railway Station / Bus Station
    • 07:30 AM – We will have breakfast start the journey to Kalo Dungar
    • 10:00 AM – Explore the scenic view and here you get to see India - Pakistan border and empty your pockets if you love shopping.
    • 01:00 PM – We shall check-in at the cozy stay and have lunch and rest. Here you get to taste authentic local food.
    • 04:00 PM – We will go out to see the beautiful sunset. This is where we get to make lots of reels and click pictures. Also Visit Dhordo Village.
    • 07:00 PM – We shall come back and enjoy at white Rann Fair / Cultural Program and Rann Utsav Photography.
    • 08:00 PM – Enjoy your Dinner and night stay at the traditional hut "Bhunga" / tent
    • 09.00 PM - After dinner we will Cultural Program at the resort, ones who wish to stay up for night can stay chit chatting others can have their sweet sleep. It will be cold at night remember to get Jackets/monkey caps etc.

    • 06:00 AM to 07:00 AM – You can come for grabbing the first rays of the sun. Lazy bums can choose to stay tucked in cozy blankets. 
    • 07:30 AM to 09:30 AM – Freshen up and take your Breakfast followed by Check out.
    • 09:30 AM to 01:00 PM – Proceed to Bhuj. We will have lunch en-route and start Bhuj sightseeing
    • 01:00 PM to 07:30 PM – Local sightseeing- Aadhiyogi Statue, Khari Nadi, Kutch Museum, Aaina Mahal, Chhatedi - Cinematic ruins of Royal cenotaphs,and Swaminarayan temple.

    Important Note

    TRAIN TRAVEL:

    The Train Timings will be as follows:

    • Train from Mumbai to BHUJ: Dadar Bhuj Spl Train number 20907 starting at 15.15 Hrs from Dadar, Borivli 15.35hrs. This train will be reaching Bhuj at 6.30am
    • Train from BHUJ to Mumbai: Return train number 20908 starting from Bhuj at 10.35pm, reaching next day Dadar at 1.50pm. 
    • Our crew will be traveling by train from Mumbai for the event, You may choose to join the group from Mumbai itself. We can help you with booking train tickets. The Tour Leader will be carrying the tickets with him and he will be coordinating with TTE too. 
    • We get the train tickets from online IRCTC , if you book late you will get RAC/Waiting List Ticket. OR, you have to opt for Tatkal Ticket. Mischief Treks does not have any authority on Indian railways and train rules need to be followed with reference to your train travel. Roles and responsibility of Mischief Treks comes in from the point you exit train station and ends once you are back to the train station. Train/ Flight are beyond our controlling authority and hence not a part of our role in this tour. We can only provide help in your travel till Bhuj and back to Mumbai.
    • In the situation wherein the waiting list ticket or RAC does not get confirmed we can get Tatkal tickets booked on your behalf. The charges for Tatkal needs to be paid accordingly. The regular quota ticket booking charges are already incorporated in the "With Ticket" option available while booking. Also there are various options for consideration as mentioned in detail in the cancellation policy.
    • The organizer (Mischief Treks) reserves right to make changes to the itinerary depending on the situation (if need be).
    • Please do not book this tour if any of the terms or details are not agreeable to you. 

    Stay Arrangement:

    Stay will be in a village hut called "Bhunga" / Tent on a triple/quad/cottage sharing basis. Cottage Stay is also available for larger family or solo travelers in the group the capacity of cottage is 8 persons. Based on availability at the time of you making the payment, the accommodation will be provided in a Resort like Rann Home stay or Rann Kandi.     NOTE:

    • If you are booking the tour pretty late, i.e. not 60 days in advance, you may not get the preferred choice of stay when it comes to twin sharing, triple sharing or cottage stay. 
    • For 23rd Feb batch stay is available in Tents and Cottage at the Resort.

    Coordination: 

    We will be creating a WhatsApp group 3 days prior to the event date for coordination and final instructions. The batch coordinator will be carrying all train tickets and will meet you at the train station. Apart from coordinator details and tickets all information is available on this page itself.

    Kids Charges: 

    Below five years kids can join in free, provided additional space is not required for the kid during the entire tour and the kid will adjust in the space allocated to accompanying adult. Kids/Children from 5 to 9 years will be considered as an individual person, and charges will be 4999 for the tour. Above 9 years the charges will be same as adults. If the Kid requires same space and provisions like an individual we recommend getting a adult ticket booked for the kid to ensure proper space and arrangement is made for the kid. Without this, the kid has to share the provisions made for the parent.

    • By Flight: The nearest airport is Bhuj. From Mumbai, take a flight to Bhuj. From Bhuj airport, Dhordo can be reached by hiring a taxi, which is about 80 km away.
    • By Train: There are trains available from Mumbai to Bhuj. Once you reach Bhuj railway station, you can hire a taxi to Dhordo.
    • By Bus: There are direct buses from Mumbai to Bhuj. From Bhuj, local transport or taxis can be taken to reach Dhordo.
    • By Car: For those preferring to drive, the journey from Mumbai to Rann offers a scenic route. Starting from Mumbai, head towards NH 48 and continue driving through Gujarat. You will pass major cities like Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad. From Ahmedabad, take the NH947 to Bhuj. From Bhuj, Rann Utsav is accessible via state highways, leading you directly into the beautiful landscapes of the Rann of Kutch. The entire drive is about 930 km and offers a unique experience through the diverse terrains of Gujarat.

    What is the Best time to visit Rann of Kutch?

    The best time to explore the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat's Kutch district is during the Rann Utsav Festival. This festival started on November 01, 2023 and continues until March 27, 2024. The temperature during these months is between 22 to 10 degrees Celsius which makes sightseeing pretty comfortable. The nearest Railway station and Airport are located in Bhuj city, which is in the Kutch district. To reach the white desert from the nearest railway station in Bhuj, it's about 86.6 kilometers by road, taking approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes of travel time. Click here for Map

    Interesting fact is, The entire Rann of Kutch is Submersed under salty water from March to October and hence the white salt panes not visible during this period. Visiting during this time is not at all recommended as you wont get to see any thing apart from the sea. 

    What is Rann Utsav?

    Rann Utsav, as the name suggests is a Festival of Desert. Every year the Tourism Department of the Government of Gujrat promotes this festival to boost tourism and help people explore the culture and heritage of Gujrat. The Festival is celebrated at the Rann of Kutch which is a salt marsh in the Thar Desert located in Kutch District of Gujarat, India. It is about 7500 km in area and is one of the largest salt deserts in the world. Visitors get to enjoy activities like Hot-Air-Balloon ride, Music Concerts, Camel Ride, Camel Cart Travel and much more. Various options are available for comfortable stay during the visit, these include staying in local village hut called 'Bhunga', Resorts, Tents and Hotels are available too. 

    Is Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch Tour safe for solo participants? 

    Yes is safe and comfortable. Mostly 40% of the participants come solo and blend in with the leaders and the rest of the group. Apart from standard risks of any outing there are no additional risks involved.  

    Is Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch tour safe for girls/women? 

    Mischief Treks has a track record of making our events extremely safe for girls, women, kids and men too. Normally 60% to 75% of our participants are females. 

    Can we make partial payment or pay in installment for Rann Utsav?

    You can opt for partial payment if you book in advance. Balance payment needs to be paid at least 20 days prior to event date and time. 

    What is the last date of booking Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch?

    Bookings close once tickets are sold out. Ideally you need to book at least 2 month advance to the scheduled date and time for each batch in 2023 and 2024. 

    How should I book Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch?

    For online booking of Rann Utsav at Rann of Kutch, you need to login to official booking website www.mischieftreks.com and select your desired date of travel. once your plan is set, you need to press Book-Now button on the event details and follow the instructions.

    What is the procedure for train tickets after making payment?

    Ans. Once you have made the payment for online booking, We will be sending you a KYC form (within 24-48 Hrs) to be submitted for yourself and participants in your group. After we receive the KYC details we will forward the relevant information to a ticketing agent for getting the train tickets booked in your name. The ticketing agent takes minimum 1 working day to get the processing done.
    The tickets booked on your behalf will be either on RAC, Waiting List, or Confirmed Tickets depending on how soon or late you make the booking. The tickets are issued by Indian Railways, Mischief Treks or Ticketing agent cannot assure or have control on seat allocation or status of the ticket issued by Indian Railways. Our assistance is limited to get the booking done on your behalf.
    Note: Kindly refer cancellation policy mentioned on this page for situations arising out of tickets getting cancelled by Indian Railways.

    I have booked/paid for the event, is my booking confirmed? 

    Ans. No !, your booking can become invalid if you do not submit the "Most Important Details" required for emergency situations. We do not allow anyone to the tour until we have complete and authentic details of the person. This info is crucial in case of an emergency and is a mandatory KYC parameter. The link for the "KYC" will be sent on WhatsApp after you complete the booking instructions mentioned on the website. Submitting incomplete/incorrect/fake details in the form or not submitting the form within 24 hours of receiving it, will make your booking invalid and no refund will be provided in such case. 

    Why is submitting KYC information mandatory?

    Ans. Its a standard protocol and also a guideline by Govt of India. We are accountable for every "Human-Body" present at our event is our responsibility and in case of any unfortunate event we will be asked by authorities to provide all relevant information about you. In order to comply with the authorities we have to register authentic information from you. 

    Does the cancellation/rescheduling policy apply immediately after booking?

    Ans:  Yes, the policy is applicable irrespective of the booking date. The cancellation / reschedule policy is applicable to everyone with immediate effect from the date and time of booking. The refunds/rescheduling requests will be processed based on the date and time of cancellation/reschedule request sent to us and the date and time of booking the event are irrelevant.

    Which vehicle will be provided for local travel at Rann Utsav, Rann of Kutch?

    Transport from Bhuj to Rann Utsav - Rann of kutch is generally provided by bus. The bus capacity varies with reference to participant count in the batch. 17 seater, 26 Seater, 32 seater busses are available.  If the participant count is low we may opt for Qualis/Sumo/ Tavera for transport. 

    What if there is an issue with transport,  Eg.. the bus breaks down, tyre gets punctured?

    Mischief Treks as a team conducts treks/tours only. All the support functions like transport, food etc are sourced from various other vendors to help the participants have it streamlined. Equipment failure can happen any time with any piece of machinery and we can try to get a replacement/repair from the vendor. This may consume time and the trek/tour leader may decide to continue the event as deemed fit to get the event completed. We as well as the participants have to bare with it. There are no refunds possible in such case. The Trek/Tour leader's decision to terminate the event or continue the event with available resources will be final and binding. 

    Are plug points available in Tent and Bhunga for charging mobile?

    Yes, the Tents and Bhunga have plug points available for charging your electronic devices. 

    How many people will be coming for the Rann of Kutch Tour from Mumbai?

    Depends on the number of people booking the event. Generally, the regular batch size for Rann of Kutch Tour from Mumbai is approximately 25-35 participants. Special days like Christmas and New Year have higher counts.

    How do we get in touch after reaching meeting point?

    Are washrooms available inside the Tent and Bhunga?

    Yes, washroom is available inside the Tent and Bhunga. The quad sharing Bhunga has two washroom whereas other variants have one washroom. 

    Will we be returning at exact time mentioned in the itinerary?

    The Itinerary is for reference purpose only, it is based on average time taken during our previous events. Actual timeline for a particular date depends on Weather conditions, Traffic Conditions, train delays etc..  

    What are the kids charges for Rann of Kutch Tour?

    Ans. The Charges for kids depend on multiple factors, Would the kid require a separate seat while traveling on the train -OR- Will the parent carry the kid on his/her lap? Based on these factors the charges will be ascertained. Children below 5 can be carried for free in Train and Full adult fare will be charged for children of age 5 years and under 12 years of age if for whom berth/seat (in reserved class) is sought at the time of reservation.

    Prior to 2017, Full Moon used to be special day to witness Rann Of Kutch because the moonlight falling on white desert would make it look magnificent. But, Since 2017 the place got commercialized and hundreds of huge Flood-lights (Halogen Lights) were installed at Rann of Kutch Desert area. The lights made Moon and Moonlight completely irrelevant.     You can upgrade the stay to in the resort called Tent City, which is one of the India's costliest resorts. You will have to pay upgrade charges per couple Rs.14,380.00 for Non-AC Tent, or you can opt for AC Tent by paying  Rs.17920.00 per couple. These charges are in addition to the booking charges for this entire tour. The upgrade is applicable only for the stay.

The Rann Utsav Festival at Rann of Kutch has become a big help for the people in Dhordo Village of Kutch District in Gujarat, making their lives better. The festival started in Dhordo in the year 2005 and became famous around the world. Now, Dhordo Village is known globally for tourism. Because of this, a group called the United Nations World Tourism Organization said it's one of the best tourist places in the world and gave it an award for being the 'Best Tourism Village.'

    Dhordo Village, which is located near White Rann of Kutch (white desert of Kutch), is now a top tourist spot in the world and won this special award. This award was given in a ceremony organized by the UNWTO in Uzbekistan on October 19, 2023. Dhordo was the only place to get this award at the 'Best Tourism Village-2023' event.


    Update (as on February 18, 2024) : 

    The Rann Utsav festival at Rann of Kutch date has been extended till February 27, 2024.  Mischief Treks has last three batches of season available for booking, If you wish to experience Rann of Kutch this season you can grab the opportunity to book the tour along with Train travel tickets. Next season will begin from October 2024. The weather in the month of February and March is pleasant during the day and nights are cold. For batches scheduled for Feb ruary and March 2024, You need to carry warm clothes to keep you comfortable. The visibility is clear and night sky looks splendid. Average temperature for the day expected to be around 19°C and the night temperature is expected to go as low as 12°C.

    Cancellation, Rescheduling And Refund Policy
    • 90% will be refunded if cancelled 30 days (720+ hrs) in advance.
    • 75% will be refunded if cancelled 20 days (480+ hrs) in advance.
    • 50% will be refunded if cancelled 10 days (240+ hrs) in advance.
    • 0% refund if cancelled in less than 10 days (240 hours) of the event date and time.
    • 0% refund if the participant drops out, misses bus pickup, does not reach the meeting point on scheduled date and time. 

    Cancellation Policy Explanation 

    1. The calculation will be based on total tour cost that you have booked. Incase you have paid only a partial amount, the partial payment (if any) is not taken into consideration for calculating refund percentage based on total tour cost. 
    2. If the event itself gets cancelled by Mischief Treks, The participant will be given the option to switch to any other event or any other date, Or you can opt for 100% refund. No charges will be deducted and the Participant will gets full refund of the amount paid by him/her.
    3. If the Participant has initiated the cancellation request, The percentage of refund is applicable after deduction of third-party cancellation charges i.e. train and stay. The cancellation charges of train tickets and stay need to be paid by the participant. For this event the stay cancellation charges are 1500/- per person and train cancellation charges will be as applicable as per Indian Railways rules.
    4. Any external charges like convenience charges, train ticket booking charges of travel agents, or any other charges are not refundable.
    5. In case the train tickets booked for the tour remain in waiting until 24 hours prior to departure date, We can assist in getting Tatkal Tickets as per tatkal timing of IRCTC. Additional charges for Tatkal or premium needs to be paid by the participant as applicable. 
    6. In case tatkal or premium tatkal is not available and existing waiting list ticket gets cancelled by IRCTC, The participant will have to cancel his/her tour as per Point number 3 in this section. 
    7. Based on availability the Participant may be provided an option to reschedule the tour for a later date. The Rescheduling will be done as per residual amount after deducting stay cancellation charges and this would require differential charges to be paid by the participant.
    8. In case of Partial Payment for booking the slot, the balance payment needs to be paid 20 days prior to departure date and time. If the participant defaults in making payment and does not clear the dues 20 days prior to departure date, the partial amount will be forfeited and the participant will be considered drop out. 
    9. Non-Adherence to any of the terms and details explained on this page, or intentionally ignoring the terms will lead to disciplinary action against the said participant and he/she may be expelled from the group. 

    Rescheduling request by Participant 

    • If you need to reschedule your booking to any other date, it can be done only if the rescheduling request is sent at least 20 days prior to event date and time and the request will be considered after paying cancellation charges for stay and travel, booked for the given date. 
    • Rescheduling can only be done based on availability for the given date. 

    NOTE: Please do not book this event if you do not agree to the terms and details mentioned on this page. This mutually agreed cancellation policy is applicable to the participant and us as well. The Date and time of cancellation request sent to us will be considered for calculation of the applicable slab given above. The date and time of booking the event are not relevant for calculating the number of days and hours remaining between the event date and cancellation request. It's a humble request, please do not give medical reasons, crib, argue or try to threaten/blackmail us if you drop out or cancel/reschedule the trek due to the situation at your end . 

    The basis of the cancelation policy is to protect the participant and the organizers from undue financial losses arising out of unforeseen situations. If the event gets canceled due to the medical/personal emergency of the organising team member, the participants will not have to suffer financial loss. Similarly, if there is a medical/personal emergency at the participant's end, the organizing team will not have to suffer financial loss.
